SHARING THE LOVE ❤️

To help celebrate my 60th birthday, my community was invited to help me create a different kind of celebration. 
I asked them to help me give back what came to me so easily in my lifetime:  Food, Warmth and Love. My hope is to give out 60 blessing bags filled wih useful items to people experiencing homeless  in NYC,   A registry on Amazon was set up for easy ordering of donation suggestions to fill the bags and auto delivery to my address.  The response was way beyond my expectations. ��

On Sunday Dec 18th, 2016, a few dear friends and I had the pleasure and honor to gift 60 backpacks, $250 Gift in Cards and 60 glass hearts necklaces with hand written envelopes that read “You are Loved” to people experiencing homelessness around NYC.  From the steps of St Mary’s Church in Times Square, to a mens shelter off the FDR drive to Penn station. Each bag also included a Street Sheet providing locations for additional assistance 

People were grateful to accept these backpacks, but the receiving of “You are Loved” envelopes with heart necklaces, just cracked open peoples hearts, as it did all of ours to offer them. 

I’m so grateful to all who contributed in the many ways they did.  It’s amazing how loving and generous people are. People want to help and are often just looking for an opportunity to do so.

This event was documented in the hope it may inspire others to celebrate their birthdays in a similar way.
