What is Implicit (or Unconscious) Bias?

Implicit Bias describes the attitudes we have towards people or stereotypes
associated with them without our conscious knowledge.

During our Sunday service “See No Stranger” we began to discuss Implicit
Bias.  In this week’s Conscious Conversation, we’ll experientially explore
our understanding of Implicit Bias. Join us as we come together as a
conscious community to explore and expand our understanding of implicit
bias and what we can do about it.

Prior to our meeting all participants are encouraged to do a little
homework! Just 2 things:

different topics to choose from.

Salome Raheim, Ph.D., ACSW
(OSIS Class of 2022) is an organizational consultant and trainer whose
passion for advancing diversity, equity, and social justice has taken her
to four continents to work with health and human services agencies,
educational institutions, and nonprofit organizations. She is Dean Emeritus
at the University of Connecticut School of Social Work and Professor
Emeritus at the University at Albany—SUNY School of Social Welfare.  She is
the mother of two sons, grandmother of a beautiful goddess-child, a family
constellations facilitator, energy healer, and certified mindfulness
instructor. She is currently attending One Spirit Interfaith Seminary –
Class of 2022.
