*Memorial Demonstration for Victims of Oil Train Tragedy *

Yesterday, people rallied to remember Lac-Mégantic and honor Laszlo
Berkovits, a leader of the Coalition to Ban Unsafe Oil Trains. In spite of
the heat, about 30 people showed up to rally to mark the Anniversary of the
2013 Tragedy at Lac-Mégantic, Quebec, where 47 people were killed, when a
train carrying volatile Bakken crude oil derailed. People spoke out and
demanded improved rail safety regulations and enforcement and a ban on
Bakken crude oil and Liquified Natural Gas.

A few of our UUCP Racial & Social Justice Team members were present
including: Karen Shannon, Micki Shilan and Sydelle Postman.
A big thank you to everyone that showed up, represented UUCP, and spoke out
for rail safety.
