TOPIC:  Discussion of the Documentary Film “13th”

Ava DuVernay’s documentary film is titled after the 13th Amendment to the US Constitution, adopted in 1865, which abolished slavery & involuntary servitude throughout the United States  except as a punishment for crime. In this thought-provoking documentary scholars, activist, and politicians analyze the criminalization of African-Americans and the US prison Boom.

For me, this was one of the most educational and impactful documentaries I’ve seen.
