Dear Congregants and Friends,
Before anything else, I want to thank you—from the depths of my heart—for
the extraordinary privilege of serving this congregation over these past
five and a half years. This community, and each of you, have shaped me in
ways I could never have anticipated. During my time with all of you, I feel
my heart has grown exponentially, for that gift I will never be able to
fully express my gratitude.
I love what I do, and I love you. And yet, I find myself at a point in my
life where I feel called to create space—for other experiences, for
presence, and for simply being. With time and reflection has come a
deepened awareness that time itself is our most precious resource. It is
the one thing we cannot stretch, replace, or grow. It is limited, and it is
sacred.
I feel drawn to live more intentionally—to spend less time in the digital
world and more time in nature, with people and being fully present to life
as it unfolds.
With that in mind, I am offering my resignation, with six months’ notice,
and propose my final official date to be June 30. If, however, a
replacement is found who is able and eager to begin sooner, I would be
happy to adjust my end date in whatever way best serves the congregation. I
am fully committed to assisting with the transition and supporting the
search process in any way that is helpful.
I also felt it important to share this now, as I know the congregation is
discerning next steps regarding a possible full-time location. I hope that
knowing my timeline—and the eventual release of my salary, may be helpful
as you consider the financial and logistical possibilities before you.
Coming to this decision has not been easy, but it does come with clarity
and peace. The love I hold for this community is impossible to put into
words. To have companioned you these last years has been one of the
greatest honors of my life, far beyond anything I could have imagined.
Please know that I hope to continue my connection with the community and
congregation as life moves forward, by continuing to lead our Tuesday
morning meditations and in other ways as time unfolds.
Thank you again for allowing me the privilege of ministering to you.
In oneness and love,
Sonia
